      Hi there,

thank you for your question. In general, DBA programs - particularly when structured as part-time programs - target professionals, particularly Executives in management positions who have the financial resources to finance the studies themselves. Sometimes they also become financed by their employer, paricularly when the dissertation topic uses data from the firm and when the research goal is beneficial for the firm.

Therefore, funds or scholarship for DBA programs are likely rare. I have never heard of any scholarship to be honest.

Since you mentioned Germany, there is a full-time DBA program at the Fachhochschule des Mittelstands (a University of Applied Science), granted by the University of Gloucester. You can find a PDF-file about financing this program on their website.

Here you find further DBA programs in Germany or from German institutions in cooperation with non-German Universities.

If you are interested in funding opportunities in Germany, here is a very good website with more than 600 scholarships. You need to check it out by yourself but I doubt that you find scholarships for DBA programs.

      Best wishes,
      Thomas

I recently retired from my job and would like to find a DBA program. Can standard FAFSA be used in the US?

    Hi there,

I am sorry but I am not an expert on financial aid. Moreover, doing a DBA with financial aid is quite uncommon. Keep in mind that the target group of part-time executive doctorates in management - this is what the DBA is about - are executives with higher incomes, who are capable of paying the high tuition fees while continuing to work at the same time.

    Best regards,

I'm studying for my DBA with FAFSA funding. The company I was working for, went out of business so I had to hit back to school. The DBA, just like any Doctoral program in United States is fully qualified for Federal aid. $138,000 cap currently if you haven't used all at Master's and undergraduate levels. Some universities can offer you additional aid as well. Just be careful to look for great accredited programs with good specialization. My university is Sacred Heart University in Fairfield Connecticut. They offer a highly accredited DBA with specialization in Finance. Good luck.

    Hi there,

I wouldn't know about such a DBA. And the reason is straight forward: DBA programs are for business people who earn money and want to obtain a doctoral degree in management besides there jobs. In contrast to students, who don't have any income, hence, DBA candidates (from the perspective of the business schools) are able to finance their studies themselves.

    Best wishes,
    Thomas
