Professional Background
I am a retired U.S. Navy Master Chief Air Traffic Controller, where I spent over 20 years building and leading high-performing teams in high-stakes environments. Following my military career, I built a national real estate brokerage and property management firm. Today, my work focuses on developing realtors, leading real estate sales and investment strategies, and supporting entrepreneurs through training and mentorship.

Motivation for Pursuing the DBA
My motivation for pursuing the DBA is rooted in a desire to deepen my scholarly knowledge and expand my impact. I aspire to teach at the university level while also contributing to research that helps identify practical solutions to grow and develop small businesses, particularly in underserved and transitioning communities.

Why Miami Herbert
Miami Herbert stood out to me because of its highly esteemed and exceptionally knowledgeable faculty, as well as its strong reputation for developing scholar-practitioners. The accessibility and caliber of the professors were a major factor in my decision, and of course, the beauty and energy of Miami made it even more appealing.

Experience in the Program
My experience in the program has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding. While the academic rigor pushes you to grow, I am already filled with gratitude for the personal and professional transformation I’ve experienced, especially through the relationships I’ve built with both faculty and peers.

Impact on Thinking and Leadership
The program has significantly evolved how I approach ideas and decision-making. I now think more precisely, more strategically, and with greater intention. It has also strengthened my confidence in my ability to grow, adapt, and contribute at a higher level.

Most Valuable Aspects of the Program
The most valuable aspects of this program are the faculty and the cohort. The depth of knowledge and experience within my cohort has exposed me to new ways of thinking that have already had a measurable impact on my business. The conversations alone have elevated my perspective and expanded how I approach opportunities and challenges.

That said, the faculty truly take it to another level. These are not only experts, they are the advisors to experts. Their insight, accessibility, and commitment to our development have earned my highest level of respect.

Advice to Prospective Students
My advice would be to be very clear on your “why.” This program is challenging, and once you begin, you are committing to the journey. Your purpose must be strong enough to carry you through to completion.

Would I Recommend the Program?
Absolutely. I would highly recommend the Miami Herbert EDBA program to anyone looking to elevate their thinking, expand their impact, and grow both professionally and personally. It is a transformative experience that challenges you, stretches you, and ultimately prepares you to operate at a higher level.
